Start a Career in Real Estate

A real estate license opens the door for you to the various opportunities in the real estate business. At ABS Schools of Real Estate, Mortgage, & Insurance, we offer a wide variety of real estate classes.

Real Estate Salesperson's License

If you’re planning to become a real estate salesperson, there are certain requirements

that you must meet in order to qualify for a license:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Have a high school education or equivalency

  • Complete a 75-hour pre-licensure course at a licensed school

  • Pass the license examination

After completing the course and passing the licensure examination, you can apply for a real estate salesperson's license through a sponsoring real estate broker.

Broker's License

To earn a broker’s license, you must fulfill certain requirements:

  • Have a high school education or equivalency

  • Successfully complete 150-hours of pre-licensure education

  • Must first complete a 90-hour general real estate course followed by two 30-hour courses on agency / ethics, office management and other related courses

Additionally, you should also be licensed and employed on a full-time basis as a real estate salesperson in New Jersey for three years immediately preceding your application.

Broker-Salesperson’s License

With a broker-salesperson license, you are qualified as a real estate broker. However, to perform the functions of a real estate salesperson, you should be employed by and operate under

the supervision of a licensed real estate broker.

To be eligible for a broker-salesperson’s license, you must first meet the licensing requirements of a real estate broker. If you’ve ever been convicted of a crime or you are currently on parole or probation, your application for a real estate license may be denied.

Continuing Education

ABS Schools of Real Estate, Mortgage, & Insurance offer Continuing Education classes at your office or at one of our school locations.

According to the New Jersey Real Estate Commission, all real estate licensees should complete 12 continuing credits every two years to maintain their license. The 2019 Term is July 1, 2017 – April 30, 2019.

You may complete the CE courses for the 2019 Term until June 30, 2019. However, you’ll be required to pay a $200 late fee along with the license renewal fee. If you do not complete your credit by June 30, 2019, you will not only lose your license but also subject to the 2021 Term and any fees associated with reinstating your license.
